En bref
IBS symptoms go beyond bowel habits alone — here's the full picture, and the warning signs that mean it's time to rule out something else.
Dans cet article
IBS symptoms center on abdominal pain connected to bowel habits, though several other symptoms commonly accompany it.
Core Symptoms
- Recurrent abdominal pain or cramping, often relieved (at least partially) by a bowel movement
- A change in how often you have bowel movements
- A change in stool appearance (harder, softer, or looser than usual)
Commonly Associated Symptoms
- Bloating and visible abdominal distension
- Excess gas
- Mucus in the stool
- A feeling of incomplete emptying after a bowel movement
Warning Signs That Need Evaluation
Certain symptoms aren't typical of IBS and should prompt evaluation for another cause: blood in the stool, unintended weight loss, symptoms that start after age 50, anemia, or a family history of colorectal cancer or inflammatory bowel disease.
Avertissement
This guide is for general education only and does not diagnose or recommend treatment for any individual. If you have any of the warning signs above, see a doctor for evaluation rather than assuming it's IBS.
